Our Team

Every Role Has a Story

From apprentices starting out to experienced hands leading major schemes, every role comes with responsibility, support, and the chance to grow.

These are real stories from across the team…how they got here, what they’ve learned, and what it means to be part of a business that backs its people.

  • Conor McTaggart – Estimator

Conor joined the business in 2019 after deciding that a traditional classroom environment wasn’t the right fit for him. Keen to learn through practical experience, he entered the workplace and quickly began developing his skills and confidence.

Over the years, Conor has grown into a competent Estimator, building strong communication, organisation, and problem-solving abilities while working across a variety of projects.

His journey has taught him the importance of reliability, teamwork, and continuous improvement. Working in a fast-paced environment has helped shape his approach and given him a clear direction for the future.

“I realised early on that I learn best by doing. The experience I’ve gained here has helped me grow professionally and given me a much clearer understanding of where I want my career to go.”

  • Shannon McTaggart – Quantity Surveyor

Shannon joined F&T Goodwin in 2018 as an Accounts Assistant within the Group Accounts team. After gaining experience across several areas of the business, she joined our surfacing division in 2022 and began a Quantity Surveying apprenticeship.

With support from the team, Shannon was promoted to Quantity Surveyor in 2024 and graduated from Nottingham University in 2025 with an HNC in Quantity Surveying.

Having worked alongside our Planing, Labour and Plant Hire divisions before finding her home with F&T Goodwin, Shannon has built a broad understanding of the industry and continues to develop within her role.

“When I started here, I didn’t fully appreciate the varied careers available within our industry. I’ve chosen a career path which is both varied and challenging – my only regret is not doing this earlier.”

  • Harrison Blake – Assistant Contracts Manager

Harrison joined F&T Goodwin in 2022, looking for a more hands-on role with room to grow. He started as a Commercial Assistant and began a Quantity Surveying apprenticeship, but soon realised his strengths were out on site.

With support from the team, he switched to a Construction Supervisor course and took on a Trainee Supervisor role. In January 2025, he was promoted to Assistant Contracts Manager, a role that balances site and office, just as he’d hoped.

His journey’s been shaped by choice, support, and the freedom to find the right fit. Now he’s planning his next course and aiming to become a Contracts Manager. “I’ve gone from a completely different career to something that actually feels like a future.”

  • Shane White – Apprentice

Shane joined Tripod Crest in November 2023 after deciding to change direction from a warehousing career and pursue his interest in cars and engines.

Since joining, he has begun studying at college as a Level 3 Land-Based Engineer while gaining hands-on experience in the workplace. His day-to-day role involves carrying out diagnostics, repairs and maintenance on a fleet of vans, trucks and plant machinery, helping to keep operations running efficiently and supporting Tripod Crest’s strong reputation.

Shane is determined to keep progressing once he completes his qualification and plans to continue developing his skills as he works his way up in the industry.

  • Brandon Turner Bruce – Apprentice

Brandon joined Tripod Crest in early 2025, bringing experience from a light vehicle maintenance garage and a Level 1 NVQ in Light Vehicle Maintenance.

Looking to build on that foundation, he joined the company and enrolled on a Level 2/3 Construction Equipment Maintenance Mechanic course to develop his skills further.

With guidance from colleagues and tutors, Brandon has quickly settled into the role and has been developing more effective, efficient and safe working practices. He is now focused on completing his qualification and continuing to progress in his career.

  • Arons Topi – Apprentice

Aron joined Tripod Crest as an apprentice after studying engineering, looking for a role where he could build practical skills and develop for the future.

With an existing interest in heavy plant and a family connection to the business, he was drawn to the hands-on nature of the role and the chance to learn on the job, supported by an experienced workshop team.

In a short time, Aron has grown in confidence, picking up new mechanical skills and becoming more independent day to day as he continues his apprenticeship.
