As part of a major redevelopment of Wolverhampton Airport, F&T Goodwin was appointed to resurface key runway and taxiway infrastructure – upgrading over 100,000m² of surfacing to meet modern performance and safety standards.

Our appointment followed early contractor involvement (ECI), where we worked closely with the client team to develop a value-led solution that reduced cost, programme duration, and material movements on site.

    • Full resurfacing of runway and taxiway areas totalling 100,000m²

    • Geotextile reinforcement and a single-layer asphalt solution to optimise programme and performance

    • Complete delivery in just 20 shifts, minimising operational disruption

  • Smarter Methods, Faster Results

    Through ECI and value engineering, we introduced an innovative surface design combining geotextile membranes with a single high-spec asphalt layer. This reduced both the construction timeline and environmental impact—without compromising durability.

    The project was delivered entirely by our in-house teams, using F&T Goodwin’s own:

    • Cold planers

    • Paving machines

    • Surfacing crews

    • On-site supervisors

    This self-delivery model ensured tight control over sequencing, quality, and safety throughout.
